Ah yeah…the first post for the Inspired Flight blog! It’s been a long time in the making, but here we are. Here’s a little introduction to what we’re all about…
My name is Gabe Lehner, although I am known to go by the name of Chavez. Why? Well, I have no idea, but I respond to Chavez as well as Gabe, so if you meet me feel free to call me either. I am pretty much hopelessly obsessed with music, which has gone from being an avid listener as a young kid to now being a listener, player, songwriter, performer, producer, engineer, remixer, and teacher. I really got hooked when I was nearly sixteen and started to learn the electric guitar. I was insanely into The Beatles at the time, and almost immediately began writing songs trying to emulate them(which I haven’t stopped doing since). I soon fell in love with the blues and studying lead guitar, and was quick to form an indie/rock/alternative band with some best friends that was ultimately called jack the original, and lasted for over ten years. jack the original was my whole life for that 10-11 year span, but it was not meant to be and didn’t work out. When that band ended a few years ago I didn’t know what to do, although I did know I needed to not give up on my music, and I had a vision of performing a one-man kind of show in a cool way. A friend told me about music software called Ableton Live, which does everything I was wanting to do, and getting and learning Ableton Live drastically changed my life. My love for making hip-hop and electronic music suddenly had a vehicle which really allowed both to evolve in a great way. I met Eric (OpenOptics) soon after that, and our common tastes in music led to the collaboration that became Inspired Flight. So here we are, and here you are, reading this. Now Inspired Flight is at the forefront of my focus, despite still being involved with many music projects. Inspired Flight is A LOT of fun, and really allows me a good creative outlet as a songwriter and producer who makes hip-hop and electronic beats. I’m the guy in Inspired Flight who sings, mainly plays guitar, and has to push and turn a grip of buttons and knobs in just the right way when we perform live so as not to horribly ruin our set in front of everybody. Also, as a songwriter, which I am first and foremost over anything else, I often end up writing melodies and words over the beats/music that Eric and I come up with when creating our new songs. Lots of our songs with singing weren’t supposed to have singing, but then I couldn’t help but come up with a melody over the music, and then all of a sudden we have another “song” song. I am extremely excited about Inspired Flight; where we’ve come from, what we’ve worked hard to accomplish, and where we are going. Thanks for listening and caring enough to read this! I’ll see you at a show!

Ah yeah…the first post for the Inspired Flight blog! It’s been a long time in the making, but here we are. I really look forward to involving you all in our lives. Expect to see posts with some fresh new art, in all its forms. Whatever is tantalizing our senses at the moment, we will make sure you are aware of them as well. I’m sure, in the process, you’ll get to hear/see some new Inspired Flight too. I hope that you all dig what we post and I look forward to letting you all into our world. Hopefully, in getting to know us, we can get to know you all. Stay in touch.
PEACE,
Eric
