We’re not sure when we will get to recording our second album, but we do have a number of songs in the works we are excited to finish, and there is a second album starting to develop. This is one of the songs, and though there isn’t much to it yet we do know that we want to take this somewhere crazy, and include it on our second album. This is a sneak peak into the birth of a song. Let’s see what it turns into!

February 16th, 2011Inspired Flight Video Post Vol. 2 – IF featuring Michael McDonald
February 24th, 2010We decided to take a quick break from working on the album to give you the second installment of our video blog. In this episode, you can hear Michael McDonald’s super dope verse on our track, “We All Want To Fly”. I’m not sure if we’ll be able to use it on the album because we couldn’t get him to sing about anything other than taking it to the streets and being in the Doobie Brothers. The dude has soul though!

Inspired Flight Video Post Vol. 1 – The Top 5 Remix Entries
February 19th, 2010After many grueling hours, Chavez and I narrowed down all the dope remixes to the top 5:
It was one of the most difficult things we’ve ever had to do, but peep the video to find out who they are. Also, behold our brand new sound…it’s going to revolutionize how we all perceive music for years to come!

Remixes
February 3rd, 2010OpenOptics and I want to thank everyone who participated in our remix competition! If you haven’t checked out all of the remixes then please take the time to do so…..to at the very least browse through them. They are all good and some are really amazing. Now is the fun part for us to go through them and decide a winner, which won’t be easy to do. For everybody who took time to make a remix of our song, I can’t thank you enough. Inspired Flight puts so much time and love into the music we make, and to hear people take the stems from one of our favorite songs and turn them into something completely new, something we would have never created ourselves, is one of the most awesome feelings in the world. It’s hard to explain what it feels like to hear our music, and especially my own voice, twisted and remixed with love and passion by another artist. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for getting involved and remixing us. It’s times like these I can’t help but think of a timeless joke my great grandmother used to tell me in the swamps of Louisiana:
So a horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, “Why the long face?” And the horse replies, “Oh….i’m just going through some hard things.” The bartender stops what he’s doing and exclaims, “Oh my god! You can talk?!” And the horse says, “Hell yeah, I can talk. I just came in here to tell you I’ve been bumping Inspired Flight all day, everyday! That’s what’s up!” And the bartender says, “Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!”
True story.

End of the year!
December 31st, 2009So it’s the last day of 2009, and I’ve just got to write a post to kind of wrap up this year for Inspired Flight. We have put in a lot of hard work this year, gotten a lot more comfortable with what we do, and a lot better at it, did our first tour, are pretty fast now at setting up and tearing down our 20-billion-cable set-up, have a lot of new songs, have played some very cool shows, are nearly done with our debut album, have done some awesome networking, have a couple of animations and a music video lined up for songs off the new, upcoming album, are way better at fighting Mordor Orcs than we were a year ago, and we now are pretty good at ordering crazy cheeseburgers at Chili’s that nobody should ever eat……….ever. Thank you to everyone who has come out to our shows, listened to our EP, told other people about us, and just showed us love in any way during this year. It means a lot. And we are going to really need continued support and enthusiasm for this coming year. 2010 is going to be good. Very good. Very, very good. Did I mention it was going to be good?

That’s a rap!
December 16th, 2009So we’ve been working very hard on wrapping up our debut album, and one of the few things left to do is get good MCs on our songs that need rap. We already have Eligh from Living Legends locked down on two tracks, which is awesome! And he’s a super cool dude, which makes it all even more awesome. Last Thursday we fit in another piece of the puzzle, and it was one of the best days I’ve ever had in my life. Through a long chain of SUPER random events, and persistence, we got hooked up with Rugged Monk from the Black Knights, and he is now officially also on our debut album. So we’ve got the west coast Killer Bee, Wu-affiliate involved, which is great because we’ve been big fans of Wu-Tang since they came onto the scene. Some friends and I went up to LA and picked him up from his front door, took him here to Encinitas, chilled out all day, he wrote and recorded a really dope verse, we went out to a nice dinner, and then we dropped him off back home. What’s so cool about it is that the vibes couldn’t have been better throughout the experience, and Rugged Monk, like Eligh, is also a really cool dude. And he’s funny! We had a great time the whole day and a great verse came out of it, and this is very exciting for Inspired Flight. Unfortunately for you fans you will have to wait till our album drops sometime in March to hear it. But it’s all good baybeh baybeh! So now there are only two songs left that need rap; two more missing puzzle pieces, and if all goes to plan, these last two MCs are going to be big! So keep your fingers crossed for us, and I’ll let you know when we fit the last pieces into place. By the way, the puzzle we’re making is a huge picture of OpenOptics carrying a turntable in his mouth, and wearing a Quidditch robe from Hufflepuff. It looks really cool if you stand far back and take it all in. I think OpenOptics looks better in Slytherin colors, but he was obsessed with Hufflepuff’s badger symbol…….either way it’s amazing how strong his jaws are!
